Plan the annual cruise so that members without boats are able to charter and join. Starting and ending around the same place and in reasonable proximity to where boats can be chartered would help. It would also be nice if the schedule would run Saturday to Saturday to allow members with charter boat to participate in the entire cruise rather than always missing either the start or the windup dinner.

Engage members better - each fleet needs to create a position and committee responsible for member integration into the club and development as volunteers, not just member recruitment.

Encourage informal events based on common interests- care of boats, how to get a good survey when buying, how to find good maintenance, insurance. Overall, a focused effort to share photos and bios of new members both in social media and internal communications- this is not that hard to do!

Basically I believe we have become too top-heavy, too formalized. Difference between whether people perceive it as their main 'club' or as an active and useful adjunct association. I think the overall experience and identity of the organization will improve if we slim down and stop taking ourselves too seriously.

Recruiting new members who are really willing to commit time and participate actively. I have done a lot of canvassing Mystic Fleet members to take on a event or committee and I've heard every excuse in the world. I feel like asking these people why their members if they don't feel like contributing.

I believe the organization has done a very good job getting back to the roots upon which it was based. Promoting seamanship and sailing.

In light of both spouses working. I believe the shorter weekend cruises as a good option to promote sailing and crew connection.

I would like to crew. My problem is I have limited time due to work to foster connections in order to be asked to crew.

Also at least for weekend cruises if you do not find a crew member your cup of tea it is only a weekend

46

I took hiatus for a year which is why I have not done any events if they were offered.

47

As a virtual club, we live in a widely spread area. This make it difficult to attend short events - eg lectures - many miles from home. I don't have a suggestion to resolve this, apart from arranging short events in different areas.

48

I think that the Chesapeake fleet leaders do a good job at arranging a variety of events each season.

49

Shorter duration on water events (ie. day sails/rendezvous on a mooring or weekend sailaway. I do NOT believe that a race with an after race dinner at an event constitutes a social event does not enhance my member experience.
