2025 Salty Pot Contest

Date: 4 August 2025

Location: HR Abel Yacht Yard; Boat Shed (where catered dinner held).

Time: 1700 hrs

Instructions: Bring Your Own Beverages


Salty Pot Contest

Appetizer Rules

  • Dazzle your fellow Corinthians with your favorite on-board appetizer.

  • Bring it ashore displaying your creations's title and contents on a 3 x 5 card.

  • Do Not put your yacht name on the card.

  • Everyone will have an opportunity to taste an vote on your entry

Contest Rules

  • Voting will be by Vote Tickets given to each Yacht, one vote/ticket per crew aboard
  • Each Yacht will be given a consecutively numbered series of red paper theater-style Vote Tickets - one for each person aboard up to 6. . [Located in Swag Bag, Composition Book]
  • The Skipper distributes the tickets amongst Crew per whim or threat.
  • The ideal is each Cruise Participant gets to vote for the appetizer they deem most appealing to them
  • To Vote, a Vote Ticket is deposited in the covered opaque 16-oz cup for each appetizer — each cup will have a different number for identification at tally time.
  • When grazing is complete, the Vote Cups will be collected and Vote Tickets tallied.
  • Winner will be the appetizer that collected the most Vote Tickets


Voting Guidance — Tradition

The Salty Pot Award is awarded for the best “offshore” recipe.  A winning recipe is one which yields excellent results and is judged to be relatively easy to prepare in the galley while at sea in what could be described as adverse conditions.

The Salty Pot Reappears!


After a mysterious absence of two years, the (in)famous Salty Pot Award Trophy again turned up at a Corinthian Annual Cruise in 2024!

AND

It has been transformed! Peggy D'Alessandro managed to find a way to bring back the copper luster to the Salty Pot after years of trying by many other recipients. It now glows… And it revealed a surprise.



A Bit of History

When the Salty Pot was finally polished. Very fine-line engravings were revealed. They trace back to the very first Salty Pot award - then called the
Corinthian Gourmet Gam Award.
