·      A principal attraction of our anchorage at the head of Somes Sound is that it gives us access to all of Mount Desert Island (MDI) and Acadia National Park by way of the Island Explorer shuttle bus service.   This free (donations encouraged) bus service is sponsored by Friends of Acadia and LL Bean Inc.  It runs regularly scheduled routes all over MDI.  The hub of the system is the Village Green in Bar Harbor, ~5 mi to the NE of HR Abel Yacht Yard.  The Cruise has arranged with the Explorer System manger and dispatcher so that we will be able to alert the drivers of regularly scheduled buses that pass by HR Able YY to stop to pick up and drop off Corinthians.  See the MDI Transportation webpage of the Cruise Guide.
·      Acadia Repertory Theater.   We are in luck!  The Acadia Repertory Theater is located on the W shore of Somes sound almost directly opposite the anchorage.   It will have a matinee performance at 1400 on Sunday 3 August 2025.  It is possible to take your dinghy in to the town dock just N of the theater and then walk to the theater (<15 minutes).  See the Acadia Repertory webpage of the Cruise Guide.

Mooring Assignments
  • When Annual Cruise Planning Began, the marina was contacted and agreed to hold all moorings for the Corinthians Fleet.
  • Skippers were advised to contact the marina and make a request as a Fleet Member
  • The marina then matched request for moorings with those available and assigned them on the basis of the order in which the request was made and then the availability of a mooring that could hold a vessel with that LOA and draft
  • The current status of the mooring assignments are given in the Table below
  • As of 26 June, the status is being reviewed / confirmed with the marina
